2.6 Testing (Report 2.6 problems here)
-
Download & install the latest: https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases
Once the game is launched, select 'settings > testing' and select the 'prerelease' lobby (note, your lobby account is not shared between 'prod' and 'prerelease')
We generally need every aspect of the game tested. Every button, every menu, every setting, every game rule, etc...
For any problems found, please check if there is the same problem in 2.5. For any problems, report them here or please create a bug report.

@lafayette is there an efficient way for a noncoder to check the known issues? i have a few things going on with 2.6.411 reported but no response as of yet to the 2 i have reported.
blanking out of PBF info
history/stats breaking on TWW (seems this was different in some way from the normal way game stats break)
not being able to change the remembered password for PBF -
I have also had issues with game history in TWW saves. (Maybe just that one game ubernaut and I were playing?)
Also noticed that pbf info is lost if the game is saved while the game is hosted in the lobby (for live battling). Not sure if that's a bug or not.

Has the 32bit version, got everything, as it looks too small?

2.6 appears slow
https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/issues/9001An ongoing issue with 2.6 it is slower 2.5, it really affects you v the AI and map testing.
For the first time I tested the 2.6.438 32bit Windows version, it is over 20% slower than the 2.6.438 64bit version, data not posted.

@ubernaut Even for 'coders' it's a question. The bug queue perhaps might have items, and worse case submitting something there would be a duplicate (which is okay, it just raises the priority of the issues).
Ultimately really looking for anything that does not work in 2.6 that did 2.5. All the other problems you find, happily create bug reports for them please.

It is, I suspect not a new one though.
@TheDog , the 32 bit likely has everything. Though I can't say for sure, I'm a bit curious how many people still run 32 bit. There are a good number of 32 bit windows downloads, which is surprising, and also another topic of its own.

Not sure if this can be considered a problem, but I'll draw attention to this issue I made:
https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/issues/9654Practically, if you make a very heavy game (like "270BC Wars" or heavier) the default maximum RAM may be insufficient, so my suggestion to go from 2GB to 3GB.
-
@lafayette this looks like a new one
-
There seems to be some sort of memory problem with instances not closing properly. My taskbar shows I've properly closed all my instances of triplea, but in Task Manager there's 7 different copies of OpenJDK Platform Binary each using somewhere from 1.5G to 250meg. There's also an instance named Triplea taking up 255 mb.
At least they close when they're force-quit via task manager.
-
@RoiEX were you the one, or do remember, who was able to find a leaked Swing component that was preventing TripleA from closing properly? I think I noticed this recently, we might have to bisect to find out when this was introduced.
-
@ubernaut You can confirm that did not happen in 2.5?
-
@lafayette i don't have 2.5 anymore but i never saw that behavior before. let me know if you need me to re-install.
-
@ubernaut It's possible to install multiple TripleA versions side-by-side. In the installer, when prompted for the installation path, simply input something custom, like "Triplea-2.5". I suspect this is a new issue and significant, we need to be sure it's in 2.5 though.
-
@lafayette yeah i understand that but if you have 2.5 already it will probably be easy to test this than me here is the save file
-
@ubernaut Can't load that save in 2.5; we'll need to verify the situation from scratch in 2.5
-
@lafayette it's just the first round not sure i will have time to do it in the next few days been super slammed this week you could probably set germany to do nothing to see if it happens in 2.5
-
@ubernaut I can't quite tell which units you have selected. It looks like this happens in 2.5 too, that there are units who are trying to follow the railroad tracks.
test2.tsvg (2.5 save game at russia non-combat)
-
@lafayette trains need to use tracks but they have no benefit to trucks that have a movement of 3. in the move highlighted i'm using a truck to transport a material but i think it happens regardless of the load status. i think the pathfinder is being confused by the existence of the rail and choosing that path even though it's less efficient despite the lack of the need for it with trucks.
wasn't able to play a game of TWW in 2.5 i think 2.6 is the first version since 1.9 that allows me to PBF. i will try to make some time to redownload 2.5 and test it out unless it is already clear to you what's happening here.
random question, are there any posts or anything about the flow AI what is that?
-
@ubernaut 'flow AI' is an AI that Trevan started.
I don't think it should matter if the game is PBF or single player. A problem report is reasonable to investigate further how the behavior could be improved. In any case, for this thread though it only matters if the problem is happening in 2.5. Please let us know if you can repro in 2.5
