Newbie - Cant start turn

I just downloaded and started a game with the ai. I have the allied powers played by human (thats me) and the axis powers played by AI.
Japan started played by AI. It took me a few minutes to figure out what happened, but I played the Soviet's turn. I figured out the right side panel as it walked me through the turn.
Germany AI played, and now it is the US turn.
I cannot figure out how to play this turn. There is no UI to begin the Research Technology phase. The tabs on the right (Objectives, Notes, Territory, History, Players, Resources) do not provide any buttons or anything to start or skip this phase.
I'm stuck. Can I not play all three human countries from my PC?

@stephen-patton Welcome to the forum. It would be helpful if you indicated which game/map you are actually playing. Not every game includes Research Technology.
So please tell us which game you play and maybe include a savegame. Then we can take a look.
Or include a screenshot showing at what point you are stuck.Of course you can play any combination of powers as human that you choose.

As Panther stated, let us know which game/map you are playing. There are different types of tech for different games but using Global 40 as an example, you should have something like this
There is also a Tutorial map that is helpful if you've never played.
