@rogercooper cool how was your experience as them
-
@board-3659 It was fun to play, but I never completely figured out the rules for placing undersea farms. And after a certain point, the Allied fleets were strong enough to choke off my expansion.
-
@rogercooper I do. You can place them when you control territory that is connected to the sea zone where you want to place (only 1 can be placed per sea zone). You should place at least 2 minefields to defend against the enemy ships.
-
@board-3659 Sometimes it wouldn't let me place even though I controlled an adjacent territory.
-
@rogercooper did you do it on the same turn as you capture it
-
@board-3659 Yes, it usually let me place immediately.
-
@rogercooper I am playing right now so I can quickly test
-
@rogercooper For me it doesn't and I have to wait next turn

Name Global War v3 Rules
Description World War II on large scale world map
https://axisandallies.fandom.com/wiki/Global_War_v3_Rules

Good Points
- Standard AA50 rules
- Plays fairly fast for a large scenario
Bad Points
- Russia is too vulnerable
-
Name World War II v3 1942 No National Objectives
Description Turn the national objectives off
https://axisandallies.fandom.com/wiki/World_War_II_v3_1942_No_National_Objectives

Good- A bit simpler this way
- AI plays a bit better
- China is more viable
Bad
- Nothing really
-
@rogercooper Isn't strategic bombing on Germany by the US becomes too powerful without National objectives? I've also always found the Allies way stronger without the National objectives.

Try out strategic bombing as a strategy. and see how well it works. I think that Allies are bit better off because China does better. National objectives helps everyone except China, so if the Japanese don't focus on China initially, China can become reasonably strong, protecting Russia's Eastern flank.

I have not tried this. I don't like games with inset maps and there are many features that are not AI-compatible.
-
@rogercooper ok I find it hard to learn but am trying to

Some mods just suffer from feature bloat. Too many unit types and too many special features. A&A is basically a simple game and best TripleA mods are not complex.
My suggestion for the American Civil War on computer is Victory and Glory: The American Civil War. I have not seen a good TripleA mod for it.
-
@rogercooper Find it harder to learn than GW 1936. That one at least has axis and allies as a skeleton. This one is too different (resource management) for me to easily learn. I think this map kind of told me not to go too far with my map
-
@board-3659 yea I tried it a few times when I first found triplea. It was a bit much for me. I've seen people say it's probably the most unique triplea map.
Some cool stuff for sure but my brain just had trouble with it.
Used to be somebody who played it frequently. Can't remember who
-
@beelee I do think it's interesting though I think my favorite's are Steampunk Advance and Lord of the Rings: Middle Earth
