      Not sure what you mean, as 2.5 loads the unzipped maps just fine.

      Selecting some maps give an error that it cant find the map.

      Starting any map it gives some variant of "java.lang.IllegalStateException: Error in resource loading. Unable to load expected resource: polygons.txt, the error is that either we did not find the correct path to load. Check the resource loader to make sure the map zip or dir was added. Failing that, the path in this error message should be available relative to the map folder, or relative to the root of the map zip"

        Do the maps that you downloaded recently have a duplicate folder name?
        As there was a bug in a recent 2.7

        If so then delete the recent maps with the duplicate folder names.
        Download the latest 2.7
        Redownload the maps again and try in 2.5

          So I kinda forgot about this and got busy with other things. Cleared all TA folders and re-downloaded from scratch, now I can't replicate because 2.5 won't start anymore. Will just be sticking to 2.7 I guess and hope for the best.

          Sigh, I really hate java.....

            Are you on linux ? I can't get 2.5 to work on linux anymore but it will if I switch to windows.

              Yep

              I suppose using 2.5 windows under lutris is a good way to get it to run too.... that would sandbox it from 2.7 anyway.... think I was too annoyed to think about it.

                  I fired up a 'test' server and have it configured for 2.7.

                  The very latest TripleA 2.7 is required:
                  https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases/tag/2.7.15288

                  The following settings are needed:

                  • enable beta features
                  • use maps server
                  • set server to 'other' and "https://test.triplea-game.org"

                  You can connect to lobby & download maps with the new support server. I need to clean things up, but it's mostly a polish phase as far as test is concerned.

                  There is a pretty big config shift needed in production and some setup that is still needed there.

                    Any idea timewise on when some bots will be added ?

                    Also one should use the latest pre https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases/tag/2.7.15288 as I couldn't join with the the old one I was using.

                      @beelee no bots are planned for the test server

                      I'm hoping to have the 2.7 lobby up. Though, there's plenty to check without connecting to the lobby. The map download is coming from the servers instead of triplea_maps.yaml, we're actually using those 'map.yaml' files now!

                        For the record, until about a week ago, there was a 2.7 lobby with bots! The support server was missing though.. All of the 2.7 production stuff is currently unavailable, but fully available in test. I'm hoping for it all to be fully available for 2.7 production as soon as I can...

                          Right arm. Yea I hadn't been on 2.7 lobby for some time. I remember there were some there for a while but they were limited in how they performed.

                            2.7 production stack ( lobby + support (AKA maps) servers ) are up and running,🙌

                            It was discovered that people running bots should update their lobby URL to "prod.triplea-game.org" (previously was: "prod2-lobby.triplea-game.org"). That update can & should be made now (even for 2.5 bots)

                            The 2.7 bots are running via docker. People hosting & running bots are encouraged to do similar, run their bots via docker. We'll need to do some follow-up threads to get bot-hosts onboarded.

                              Folks - time to pile into 2.7! Now is the time to test the latest like crazy. It should be pretty solid. There's also something that goes wrong though, let's see if we can find it 🔎

                                A new centering as discussed https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/issues/13241 was implemented with release 2.7.14961 dated as of release 2.7.15027 dated May 10, 2025 centering on active player's capital has no longer worked.

                                  "Active Units" panel is still broken and has never worked right. It will not locate transported units that can be moved off a transport. It will not locate zero movement units that can be loaded onto a transport, and it does not show 0 movement units that can gain movement from another unit. During "Special Movement" phase it will still locate all units with movement when it should only find those special "Airborne" units that can move.

                                    This isn't a bug but how the Action sidebar looks font size. I assume it's do to adding the "Technologies" tab. This is 14962

                                    The isssue, for me anyway, is that there is no way to increase the font size. It is hard for me to see. I prefer the way 14962 did it as I didn't have a problem with how Technologies showed up.

Hopefully we can get a patch for the map centering issue soon, and the fix for error reporting I believe will probably be server side (and won't need players to update their TripleA version). I don't know how well we have verified the new map download system, PvP & lobby play.

                                      Otherwise, here's a pretty clean list of the known issues recently mentioned:

                                        I ran a short game of G 40 2nd edition in the lobby. Basically just to see if it'd fire up. I'll do a longer test in the near future.

                                        Unfortunately the map I play isn't updated to latest. I know you tried to teach me how to do that and I still have the links but unfortunately you have to drop one's firewalls to do it.

                                        There's obviously a safe way to do it but I'm not able to on the system I'm on 😞

                                        So, I guess we need to find a recruit for the bot updates. @ubernaut is on the lobby fairly regular. Perhaps you know of someone that'd be interested ?

                                          @beelee @LaFayette not sure what the bot issue is but i am currently mid game and have had trouble trying to run multiple versions of the engine in the past generally try to finish a game before i mess with the engine im running
