Problems with MARTI dice server
-
Hi, I hope this is the right place to report this issue.
I'm playing a PBEM game but:
-
the emails titles start always from "round 2" instead of "round 1".
The content is ok but the titles seem moved 1 forward. -
we don't receive all the emails: for example in a 4 rounds battle we only received 1 email.
Maybe this is a temporary problem?

-
@limo re #2 are you using gmail? there is known issue with gmail recipients
-
@ubernaut yes we both use gmail
can be it solved somehow?
is there another way to get the dice results? -
@limo current solution is to use a non gmail account

Thanks for the replies
Perhaps, a (definitive) solution would be for the dice server to store the results by allowing people to read them from a webpage
(my 5 cents) -
We do wish to rewrite the MARTI dice server. Doing so would allow us to move it to a different machine and retire the old that is costing the project $10/month (not a lot, but for the sake of just running a 'legacy' application, we're talking about roughly 15% of our total monthly cost just in this one server).
An updated version would presumably avoid email and perhaps have an in-game integration to validate the dice rolls against the dice rolls stored on the server. Some sort of block-chain like checksum might be all that is needed to validate the dice rolls are accurate, or we could potentially do something like show the full history of what was stored vs what is in the game.

Hi,
Trying to start an email game using MARTI.Automatically send emails is disabled. both are using gmail as email client.
Under Dice Server Options:
To and CC fields as well as game name are filled in, and both of us are registered.
Test server comes up as 'success' but no emails received. It's the same when running a quick test game.It has been years since I've attempted this, but it did work back in 2020, no problem. I still have the emails from then .
My opponent has also played successfully in the past, but a few years as well -
@sloane
And yes, I did see that it was noted that gmail was a problem, just wondering if that's still the issue -
OK. I've figured this out. I found another thread here that does address this.
Figured I'd post this as emails I tried that didn't work are: Outlook Hotmail, and Gmail -
yea proton and gmx both currently work. Idk if there are others

@beelee
Thanks, appreciate the response.
We are set up, and trying a game now. First time doing this on triple A, although I've played G40 for years in person. Takes a little bit of getting used to. -
right arm. Please ask if you have any trouble

and since you're a G40 player, here's a cool house mod me and @VictoryFirst and @Panzerstahl-Helm-0 play. You're welcome to join us and give it a try if you'd like

I'll take a look at it in a bit, when we stop playing the game we're playing.We have a couple of house mods, too, that we use occasionally, but until today, I've only played on an actual board with people.
This is a bit different, but allows to see other people's strategy, which I find interesting -
yea, like most new things, it'll take a bit to get used to. Sometimes you can't move where you want. Might have to move one space and then move again.
Also, it doesn't do everything correctly. It'll let you fly over neutrals and land there on same turn you take one over. The pro neutral ones.
Some other stuff too. The Game Notes clarify most of it.
Let us know how your game goes

@beelee
For sure. We're still playing. I find my biggest issue is getting used to not seeing the entire map at once. The 'bugs' ... I'll try to abide by the actual rules, and not abuse the 'spirit of the game'
