Forum Server Work - Might be some downtime today (May 2, 2026)
-
I also configured a manual database export to backup the forums information on a nightly basis.
I disabled the linode server backup feature, that costs $2.50
Trade-off:
- the user uploaded content is no longer backed up.
-
So saved games aren't backed up then ?
-
Updated the backup! We'll keep a 7 day window of rolling backups for the database (backup each day, remove backups older than 7 days), and we'll keep a single backup of the user-uploaded content (currently sitting at 14GB)
Also made a robustness fix/patch with the docker config just now.

Not sure if this is something which changed, but, when you click on the "TripleA Forum" link on top-left, the letters become black (I assume to show that the link has been already clicked on), thus becoming scarcely visible. I'm not seeing any reasons for having a change of colour for such an item, so I think it should better not change colour after you click on it.

I very much dislike the new
https://forums.triplea-game.org/users?section=online.

In the old one, you could see who was online at the moment, whereas now it is a list of "last online" players, and you have to click on each one to see if the player is still online at the moment. Is it possible to go back to how it worked or add something in the page itself which shows if the player is online at the moment?

It doesn't change for me but I'm on the dark setting and using linux. Maybe windows is different ?

-
@beelee I don't know. I'm on Windows with standard (white) setting.

@beelee i'm able to repro the black test, click the "TripleA Forum" text and not the logo, single click and you should see it turn to black. There is custom-CSS that is updating the color, I suspect it is related to that.

Fair, we were able to control a few things on the upgrade (actually, really little). This is one of those things that just come with the new forum version. Not sure why NodeBB team decided to change it..

ahh ... it changes when you move the cursor off it
