Maps Need Categories
-
Hey everyone. Not sure if this is a visual bug since I've gone through a lot of hoops to make TripleA run on my current ARM system but I do not see any categories anymore.
Such as "Good maps" etc.
Those were very subjective and perhaps took a lot of effort to maintain.
In their place I recommend we make new categories so that browsing these maps becomes easier since there's just too many now. Especially for new users. We could either have a #tag/pack system like #BigWorld giving you all big world maps, etc. I realize search can be used but it would be nice to just click on some big categories for specific maps, especially popular variants like Global, BigWorld, NWO etc.
An other system would be to at least categorize them according to ruleset.
So V2, V3, Unique etc. Also perhaps including "Finished" and "Testing/Unfinished".
Very open to suggestions here though. Just throwing something out there to see what sticks.

Hi Ondis
yea I think people couldn't agree on which maps should be in which category and Dan finally said f it and just made it alphabetical. Idk. I could be wrong on that

@thedog has a ranking type thing here

maybe could work with that to get something going

It was always the intention to have map tags, but it is at the bottom of the Devs list.
Some work has been here
https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/2801/map-tags-for-release-2-6/109?page=6It is not the final version.
But for now use @beelee link above or here

Why are the first 5 tags so subjective? Could we use clearer categories like “Classic” for A&A boards, “WW2,” “Fantasy,” etc., to make the maps easier to distinguish?
And the subjective tags could be solved via a like button or download counter to help people find popular maps, maybe even a review section.
