Is there a members list and a way of messaging people by there username?

Just I have about 50 game saves going back years and it would be nice to finish at least some of them so wanted to try contacting people see if there still active and up for doing that with me even if has to be done by PBEM or such?
Not that I know how to do PBEM but be good to learn.
Not sure why - perhaps to see how I develop but when I first discovered TripleA and found a Map I liked I decided to just focus on playing that map. I quickly found I could best the AI but humans I got my butt kicked. So now for the stats I like to finish games to update my record:
-
@bluelionman if they are registered in the forums they can be private messaged. or if you can find their email.
-
yea probably just look for them on the lobby be your best bet
-
I found one guy but neither of us have any idea how to finish as game was saved on 1.8 engine.
-
@bluelionman well one thing you can do it's sort of a pain in the ass tho is to edit the state of a game into the current version.
-
@bluelionman You should be able still to play it by direct connection. Meaning that one clicks on Host Networked Game and communicates the port and the address to the other one, then the other one clicks on Connect to Networked Game.
Maybe you can also still play it by e-mail (I don't know if only by using the internal dice roller).
@redrum @LaFayette @RoiEX may correct me if I said anything wrong.

This works but only if they are either in the same LAN or one of them sets up port forwarding or an alternative.
-
@RoiEX Sounds good but to me its like ya speaking a foreign language I don't know.
I need hand holding to set up this ports forwarding thingy - or would play through forum work - again need help to be shown how do that. What one would be easier?
-
PbF is probably going to be easier.
Once you open the game, you select PbF as your option. Even though "dice.tripleawarclub.org" doesn't show up in the list anymore on newer clients it simply moved to dice.marti.triplea-game.org but it's still the same website.
You can even still reach it via dice.tripleawarclub.org even though we're probably going to drop this domain next year to save some money.
After that you just put your forum credentials into the box, check the "Remember password" checkbox if you want to store the information and you should be good to go.
Note that there are some help buttons avaliable that explain some fields which should help -
@bluelionman the second post by Deltium is pretty helpful

So if I use an old engine on my PC - the one the games were saved on like 1.8 I go to PBM and then what:
I select one of them 2 choices but then whats the Topic ID number?
A new thread I start on this forum somewhere makes it?
Sorry for appearing like a dim wit but before I go ragging on peeps to finish games with me I need to know how they can join me to do just that with old engine game saves.
One save is with a Mod and even he don't know these things having never done PBEM or PBF.
-
Do the 'help' buttons give enough info to get past your questions @bluelionman ?
If not, totally cool, just means they are not actually helpful enough.
Side-note, if that is all not enough, I think this is a good example of how PBEM/PBF is just too damn complex to be useful. Cloud saves would simplify all this... cc: / @panther2

@LaFayette I have created this topic to answer

to not hijack this thread.
