      have noticed in other projects it can be a good way to get and maintain momentum in OS projects, figured i'd start a thread.

        @ubernaut

        Good idea, IMHO, however I understand "dev chat" including not only software-developers (programmers)?

        What format do you have in mind?

        As we are situated in North America and Europe (maybe any other continent?) time zones matter.

            OK, I am GMT+1 currently (+2 during DST).
            Yes Slack or Discord would be fine, also Google Chatgroups might be an option, too.

                Yes, but you can compare it with Slack concerning many aspects.

                  @panther that sounds ideal since it is likely almost everyone already has a google account

                    ... or - if not - can easily create one for that purpose.

                      @ubernaut You mean like a live chat ? If so, Idk how well that'd go over. I think people just do it when they have the time. Seems as if it'd be kinda chaotic.

                      Dan and Myrd only two active developers right now that I'm aware of. Actually wc has some coding skills as well. Maybe Eggman will be at some point. Idk his skill level.

                      Anyway, there's not anything I can contribute from a java standpoint.

                        @beelee the point is to just get folks with interest together to set goals and try to coordinate efforts especially helpful to get new folks on board at least from what ive seen in other Os projects

                          Neither can I, but that is not necessarily the point I think. I think the participants of such a talk / collaboration should be those who keep things going - with whatever skill.
                          The platforms discussed so far allow for live and "non-live" participation.

                            @ubernaut I'm all for such a meeting, even if regularly doesn't mean fix dates, but rather certain intervals for a get together to align directly.
                            We'd need the active developers (@Myrd and @LaFayette?) and I would like to join. For topic discussions everyone else is welcome.
                            Could you assist to find a slot (doodle or something)?

                            PS: My time zone is CET and I would prefer Sa/Su.
