Crazy Europe: House of Habsburg
-
@crazyg Also this is only for a new map. Once invited you never have to do this again. @redrum can also walk ya through. Or @ssoloff or @RoiEX or @LaFayette
-
@crazyg What is your github name? So I can invite you and create you a team.
-
@redrum
I'm PM'd you. Thanks -
@all
@CrazyG
I can see the guide and instructions I once made are outdated now. I donโt know why but the link https://github.com/triplea-maps/Project is clearly not a link that is used in any way any more. I cant say what to do if you cant follow the guide, as this guide was the only way I knew in regards to uploading maps
This section of my guide is clearly not up to date anymore:
โTo join triplea-maps and become a team, you must open an issue here, where in you announce that you which to join and upload your map: https://github.com/triplea-maps/Project
To open an issue, go to the address - Click Issue - Click New issue - Fill out the fields and click Submit new issue.
Hopefully a developer will see your request soon, but it might take some time. You can begin uploading your map to your own GitHub repository while you wait.โ -
@frostion Yeah, we closed the general maps Project repo as it was too difficult to ensure developers were monitoring it. I'd recommend updating that to have map makers create an issue in the main repo instead: https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/issues
-
OK. And then the guide should be working again? I donโt expect you to test it out
I will make the change to the guide. -
@frostion That's the only outdated portion I'm aware of. Also if you can give me either edit or at least suggestion access to the doc then I can just make the changes/suggestion directly next time to save us the back and forth

-
The rest of Frostion's document has worked well for me. There is only one issue I'm not clear on, editing the YAML file. The instructions say to click the pencil icon, then "Insert/add my map to the list". I don't get that option, attempting to edit the file as intended but instructions here aren't clear
-
Nevermind the above, I think I've got a working version submitted as a pull request.
-
@crazyg Here is my little contribution to your project....

Use or do not.... I just got so damn excited to see this map I had to fill my time with something while I waited.

-
I'll happily use it. Redrum is helping me correct my formatting errors, (I think) the map is close to available.
-
@crazyg You are in good hands.

Not sure if the union of Denmark-Norway is a faction... but did that butter churn just move... cause if it did.
And if the English aren't to busy killing each other and decide to get in on the action.

And... but of course.... we can not forget the French....

-
I think Austria was not a sole powerhouse of Europe at this time frame. A more appropriate name should be used. This name gives impression Austria will win the war or that Austria is the sole nation to defeat.
-
I'll look to update the flags, thanks for the images guys. Denmark-Norway is in the game! The British aren't, I figured the Brits (and the Germans) get enough face time so I left them out.
@general_zod
There is no nation named Austria. Austria, Czechslovakia, Spain, the Netherlands, part of Italy, and part of France are all controlled by the same nation, the Habsburg monarchy. Its the most powerful nation in income and army size, but the Ottomans aren't that far behind. -
@crazyg
Names changes suggestions, if it is the early XVII century, in my order of preference, left to right:
crossbow->crossbowmen (but, really, from 1600 there should be none; they are almost extinct)
musketmen->musketeers
cannon->cannons
horsemen->harquebusiers/petronels
knights->cuirassiers/gendarmes/reiters/lancers
navy->ships (or man-of-wars and barques, if you split military and transport)
castle is a touch too medieval, and I remember you gave some good suggestions for this time in Age of Tribes -
@crazyg The main things that come to my mind right away are:
- Genova and Venice were mortal enemies.
- Prussia as a player.
- Nogay Horde as a player.
I realise that in a 1v1 it is hard to get all in, especially Genova and Venice.
-
@cernel Prussia wasn't yet a thing: http://www.zum.de/whkmla/histatlas/germany/brandenbg16181740.gif
-
@alkexr There is continuity between the lands of the Teutonic Order and Prussia; I would also add Brandenburg, as part of it, even if the game starting a few decades before that union, but just call it Prussia, for game's sake.
