What Version and Why?
-
Recently, on GitHub, I was asked by @TheDog which engine version of TripleA I was running. My answer was that I always try to run the most recent version. I like to dabble with the xml's, l also like peeking at the base code. Also, I'm hoping for a 2.7+ stable to be released soon to replace 2.5.22294.
So, I ask @TheDog's question openly. What version of TripleA are players using, besides the present stable, and why?Cheers...

@wc_sumpton I always recommend to players to go with the latest pre-release, as (apart from a few exceptions) there is rarely a downside to use it, but many bugs have been fixed since 2.5.22294.
IIRC you can't currently use the lobby with 2.7.any (is that still the case?) for any reason I am not informed about - but the players I am dealing with are not lobby players but play by forum.

Agree, thanks for your input. The latest version as of now is 2.7.15278 (15279, 15280 and 15281 only show source code for downloading), and there are some known issues.
2.7.15278 does not center on a (human) player's capital and will always start in the upper left corner. If there are AI players, the screen stays blank until the first human player. The use of 'any' value will cause the map not to load.
I think most are using some version of 2.7+, but not the latest version. I'm just curious as to what version and why.Cheers...

I use 14962 because I haven't had any problems with it.
So the map doesn't center again ? Seems as if it's been fixed several times already

I don't want to invest a ton of time in a game and then have it crash not work mid or late game. So far I haven't had that problem with 14962.
Obviously the latest pre needs to be tested but I'd keep it to if it fires up and solves whatever problem there was or adds a new feature that works ... not invest an entire game in it.
