Hi , my name is Jack Sarles and I'm a junior in a computer science program that is looking to help out the dev team here for TripleA. I have some basic java experience and have played probably at least 500 hours of Triple A in the past two years or so. I'm excited about the possibility of fixing bugs and whatever else needs fixing as well as a dream goal of working to improve the Artifical Intelligence because as a long time player of the game I definitely feel I've outgrown even the hard AI by a good margin. Anyways, I'm excited to help anyway I can!

There are plenty of error reports currently to pick from: https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+label%3A"Error+Report", if you can pick one & reproduce it, you'll be half way there on your first fix, we'd be happy to talk through more details.
First steps though are to get started with compiling and running the code.

@thedog Sounds great, I am embarrassed that I haven't been able to contribute any code in the 12 months since I expressed interest. but I am here now and want to help! I will try to talk to @lafayette I also have some developer friends nearby that I can probably ask to help me get my machine setup as well. Thanks for the offer for the testing! I would love to be able to say I added one little thing that made the AI better even if it was just for the 1940 scenarios. I can see that it's recommended to make very small changes to the code so it is likely something I will need to build up to.

Hi I ran into some issues with trying to get gradle running.
I have a developer friend who is helping me with with it, have you run into this issue?I think I need to correctly show IDEA the file path to Java

Feel free to head over to https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea to have a look at the code. This is a rather old codebase, so there are a lot of things that can be done to improve it. I want to emphasise that we're a volunteer driven project, and we're doing this mostly for fun.
At least for me the reason I'm not as active currently basically boils down to the fact that I haven't got as much free time as I used to have. Life comes at you fast.
Of course I can't speak for everyone at the dev team but usually we're happy to help if you need some pointers in the right direction or some help to understand a certain part of the code. Just ping me (@RoiEXLab),@asvitkineand maybe also@DanVanAttaon GitHub and we'll come back to you.
So feel free to ask any questions you might still have. -
@prastle I'm a long-time (on and off) TripleA user and so thankful for everything you all do to keep this community alive. I'd love to get more involved in whatever capacity I can be helpful (moderator, etc.--I'm not a developer).
One idea I had: TripleA should form a nonprofit and apply for its tax exemption. As a 501(c)(3) public charity, donations to TripleA would be tax deductible, which could open up opportunities for greater fundraising. In addition to the tax deduction available to individuals who donate, there may also be folks who have donation matching programs through their employers. This could really increase the TripleA budget.
I'm a tax lawyer, and I would be happy to discuss and/or assist with that process.

I’d like to volunteer as a Lobby Moderator for TripleA. I’ve been an active player and am familiar with the game rules, community expectations, and conduct standards for a very long time now -- since 2009? That, and I've brought on a few players in just on my own.
I can also help out with development but in this area I have limited capacity. While I’m still learning, I’m highly motivated to improve the platform, help with bug testing, and potentially assist in refining or extending gameplay features.
