Some players, including myself, are having issues with MARTI. The combat goes through without errors, but not all MARTI mails get delivered. Are other people having this issue? Any idea on what to do to rectify? Thanks! -bayder

In the past problems like this were reported by players using Microsoft-related email addresses (live. com, outlook. com, hotmail .com, .... ). Sometimes the related mail services filter out mails before they even reach the user's spam folders.

In the past I recommended to use gmail-accounts, as those problems had never been reported by users using those.

However I am able to reproduce the issue with GMail-accounts now, too.

The dice server itself does not return any error.

So maybe it would be a good idea that those users who experience the problem post their mail provider here, so we can probably identify something.

@panther Thanks for the reply. I use gmail, as does my opponent. Both having the same issues.

I don't have much feedback from other users right now. But a handful of users from A&A. org report the same with their Google Mail accounts.
So it looks like Google filters them out - or at least some of them.

Other mail providers seem to work fine, that is what I see from many other players on A&A. org not having reported this issue, (yet). I have successfully tested other mail addresses myself, too.

So as a workaround it looks like you could use a different registered mail account. Maybe try that out and report your experience here, please.

Of course we would like to see GMail to work as rock solid as it did in the past again. Any insights, @RoiEX , @LaFayette ?

@panther two possibilities i can think of, it's possible some user(s) have been flagging marti emails as spam or that the marti server is sending emails from a server that is not actually triplea-game.org. if it's the first thing there might not be much we can do about it, if it's the second thing we can fix it by adding domain keys to the DNS records and then implementing them on the server sending the emails.

No, unfortunately not. I am afraid there is not much the developers can do about this. It is likely Google filtering out some or all of those mails on their server side before - so the mails don't even reach your spam folders. But I still hope that either @LaFayette or @RoiEX might have an idea.

Have you tested a different mail-address (not Google)?

Yes, the first idea is what I am thinking, too. Concerning the second idea that would be something that might be investigated by the developers...

@panther probably the second thing is more likely but i have no idea how things are actually set up

From an admin side we have not updated MARTI in some time (years). It's on the bucket list to rewrite & update MARTI.

Well, it seems to be gmail specific. I set up a new game with my gmail account and a new protonmail account and sent 5 test die rolls. Protonmail received all 5, gmail received 1 of 5. So the workaround for now is to use non-gmail accounts I guess.

I doubt that someone can stop this trend. As those mails don't even reach the spam folder there is no way the user can "inform" the mail service about MARTI mails not being spam, exceot contacting them somehow. I wonder if thy would listen...

Maybe an alternative way of dice confirmation should be considered.

@panther i'm starting to think it's not a mail server issue, it is most likely a DKIM problem or an issue with the actual marti server. i think it's unlikely it would stop working on all these recipient servers all at the same time.

                                  That might indeed be.
I notice that some of my tests succeed even with so-called trash-mail services. Weird. I receive every mail with a trash-mail-account. But only a fraction with GMail.

@panther it definitely seems to be hit and miss which would make me think the problem is marti and not dkim but whatever it is it doesnt seem to be on the recieving side at least as far as i can tell

I tried doing a PBEM with MARTI and not only did the rolls take forever to process, but they also didn't show up as mails.
Edit: Ok. Now the Dicemails appeared about 20 mins after I rolled the dice. Although only in the non-g-mail-account I used to catch the mails that g-mail dropped

@nothingtoseehere @Panther yeah i can confirm my yahoo account was receiving the marti emails (marking as spam) i didn't see them till yesterday because my email client wasn't syncing properly with my junk mail folder for some unknown reason. 😕

Small update. The longer the game went on the fewer dice mails arrived on my gmail account until none of them arrived. I do get them on my other account so it kind of works for now.

                                            Idk if it's related

I think I know why this error occurs on my system. I recently got a message from Google that they won't allow third-party apps that only require a username and password and use SMTP technology to use Gmail. They recommend using apps that allow you to sign in with Google, which TripleA can't do at the moment as far as I know. Can this be changed in future versions of TripleA?
