2.6 Testing (Report 2.6 problems here)

@lafayette i'm lost lol can you take the file from there and do it for me?
-
@ubernaut When you uploaded the file, I think you only needed to navigate to the directory it needed to be in first. I grabbed the image and updated triplea-game/assets with it.
-
@lafayette thanks i thought i had but i could tell after i did it it it copied the entire thing
-
@lafayette was able to successfully update the Game Notes.
I still think they should revert to 2.5 for how they are displayed. Not only do you have to go through another step, by hitting Help to bring up Notes, the right side bar then cuts into the map view.
A lot of times, especially with a new map, one will want to look at the map the same time they're looking at the Notes. This limits your view. You can only scroll one way as well, if Notes are fully extended. The window won't Close/Hide without clicking x.
The new space isn't even being used.
Old

New

I see absolutely no benefit from this change.

Starting with 2.6+31d2c60 https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases/tag/2.6%2B31d2c60
The objectives tab disappears after you go to history.

When you exit History it doesn't come back.
Edit
Made a git issue https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/issues/11305To clarify it works correctly with the one before https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases/tag/2.6%2B2c9a940
Edit
I believe this is where the error was introduced

@cernel I've noticed two things.
-
It seems I had accidentally changed the folder name of a map. I've fixed this.
-
I also get this error message in 2.5; Illegal character in opaque part at index 2: .../games/axis_ascension.xml
-
-
@schulz
#2 I have had this error many times in 2.5 on many maps.
It occurs for me when loading/testing between 2.5 & 2.6 -
Was going to say the same, but your post went up just before I could post.
Seconds -- merely seconds
Cheers...

I joined the lobby with 2.6.14479, and there is not this problem.

-
I'm using 2.6.14547 @LaFayette @Myrd.

-
@cernel Just did the first round of "270BC Wars". Everything works fine (beside this error when chatting in the lobby but no problem chatting in the host).
-
@cernel yeah i was also getting this error wen connecting to the new lobby
-
@cernel No problem with 2.6.14548 (but this time I'm alone in the lobby).
I hope you guys release 2.6 this year.

Hi. I recently started a game with the then-current pre-release and I noticed that If I start the game from a save file either through Explorer or in the context menu in the taskbar. The game doesn't load like it used to in 2.5 and I need to open the save file in the client. Is this behavior intentional, a bug, or something outside of the control of TripleAs software?
-
Just to confirm, you double click a saved game ending in .tsvg in say
C:\Users\PC\triplea\savedGamesIn 2.5 it would load TripleA and then the saved game, yes?
Never done the above, but testing using 2.6.14580 it does load the saved game, but then flashes & replaces it with the first game in the Select Game list, in my case, 1941 Global Command Decision.
In 2.6 I would then have to Open Saved Game and load it again, yes?

Yes. Basically. And you get the same (in Windows 10/11) if you right-click TripleA on your taskbar (if you have fixed it there) and get a contect menu from which you can either normally start TripleA or select a specific save game you loaded recently. In both cases it would start TripleA with the save game already loaded, at least if you wait until its ready. With 2.6 it just has the last map you played without any savegame, so you can start a game but it will be at the starting point. So as you describe it here:

It might just be that it doesn't come up for people who mostly play lobby games, whereas this is more useful for PBF/PBEM where you constantly load and save games each turn.

@Myrd @LaFayette I suspect that this error happens only when I am with somebody else. Anyway, I'm currently using the latest pre-release (2.6.14607), and it errs.

-
@cernel Beside this, we played "270BC Wars" for a few rounds, and everything was fine.
-
@cernel I'm in the lobby now. 14586 I'll check in perodically.
