2.7 Release & Testing - Megathread

@cameron which steampunk mod is yours specifically?
-
umm... i think i may've deleted that game. i did run a test where i let the game play itself for 30 rounds and that had multiple intances of both getting and not getting tech.

2.7 lobby is broken for a bit. Almost done restoring the error-reporting stuff. Hopefully fixed in 24 hours.
-
2.7 lobby is in better shape now.
The error-report upload feature is restored & I fixed another error.Looks like the system that kept connections alive is no longer working, I get the following after about 30 seconds:

I don't know if I'll be able to get that fixed in the next coming days.
FWIW, cc: @RoiEX / @Myrd - Dropwizard is now upgraded to 4.x & Java-17. I still want to migrate to Micronaut. In the meantime that upgrade was important, there were some versioning issues that were getting difficult to resolve.
-
The disconnect problem is fixed! Fix is in version: 2.7.14848
Lobby is looking pretty solid. -
Can't turn off show first time prompts in Engine Preferences in 2.7+14825
I can't install 2.5 to check if it does it there too.
If anyone wants to check 2.5, Total World War has a lot of them, so be a good one to test.

2.7.14866 & 2.5.22294 Download maps appears to be broken
also raised here

2.7.14866

.
2.5.22294

-
RoiEX appears to have fixed this.
-
@thedog yea this fixed it https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/pull/12869
I merged Roger's map from the yaml and that's what set it off

It was all green and said no conflicts so I just merged it but ... it caused a mini catastrophe

Anyway, Roi is aware of it

-
@beelee I fixed my spreadsheet to make sure that all future entries have the category in caps.
-
@lafayette In the lobby, there is still the message
Release 2.7 is expected in late October. For early access,
latest info, or to help volunteer with release testing, see:
I assume it should be updated.
-
I guess that October was optimistic, is there a new date planned for the release?
-
Unpredictable, as I am afraid.
I recommend you to go with the latest pre-release.
https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releasesYou can install it side by side to any prior TripleA-installation. Just use another installation directory.
-
@j-shefsky
Like Panther suggested, for side by side installation herehttps://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/3724/how-to-have-triplea-2-5-2-6-installed-at-the-same-time
Although the above is for 2.6 it also works for 2.7

A couple of changes in 2.7 I don't like.
- It is a bit annoying that specifying the game to load on the command line doesn't work properly any more.
- I don't understand why the "Open Saved Game" button was changed to "Saved Game".
- Last one is the most annoying. When you use the battle calculator and try to add attackers, the nation is changed. What if I want to use the battle calculator for troops that aren't from the nation which owns the territory? I don't think this change was thought through.

@thedog
This does not work, 2.7 extracts the maps and deletes the zips and 2.5 can't properly load them that way. -

Selecting some maps give an error that it cant find the map.
Starting any map it gives some variant of "java.lang.IllegalStateException: Error in resource loading. Unable to load expected resource: polygons.txt, the error is that either we did not find the correct path to load. Check the resource loader to make sure the map zip or dir was added. Failing that, the path in this error message should be available relative to the map folder, or relative to the root of the map zip"

@rambo919
Do the maps that you downloaded recently have a duplicate folder name?
As there was a bug in a recent 2.7If so then delete the recent maps with the duplicate folder names.
Download the latest 2.7
Redownload the maps again and try in 2.5 -

Redownload the maps again and try in 2.5So I kinda forgot about this and got busy with other things. Cleared all TA folders and re-downloaded from scratch, now I can't replicate because 2.5 won't start anymore. Will just be sticking to 2.7 I guess and hope for the best.
Sigh, I really hate java.....
