@Cernel yea was thinking git can be the main place and then people could link or pull stuff off of it for new or unfamiliar with git users and post some of that here. Smaller stuff obviously. Idk just a thought

Seems as if it'd be worth hanging onto anyway. @ff03k64 is gonna have to learn git sooner or later ( if you haven't already ) 🙂

@LaFayette I just put these here for @ff03k64 to access immediately. I had intentions of contributing the the Git repository. Just wanted him to have the assets he needed immediately for his new adventure.

@Cernel Yes @Cernel . The initial posting was taken from my POP folder as it was what I had open at the time the request was made. The Mexican flag is from WWI era... though to be honest I doubt many would have ever been able to distinguish it from the current flag without you pointing it out.

I found this nice map of the 14 main terrestrial biomes:

Added a set of monochromatic units (similar to those used in Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Battle for Arda, Battle of Aventurica and others). Contains a total of 118 unit images, including many that have never been released.

All images are 40x40 pixels, and share the same style. The highlights and shadows were generated by a script. If you want to add your own images to this collection, please contact me first to ensure uniformity of style.

@alkexr I think that, while correct, "monochromatic" is not a good definition for it, as most TripleA units in the assets, as well as most games, are "monochromatic" too. Glossing over the white borders and the shades in the few pixels between them and the single colour of the main body of the image, I would rather suggest them being defined as "monotonic".

                          https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/monotone
                          : having a uniform color

I realize calling these images "monotonic" is not strictly correct, so, if anyone has a better idea, what I'm mostly saying is just that I believe they should not be called "monochromatic" (even though that is certainly a correct definition for them).

@alkexr Nice units! I was just wondering if there is a fast way of changing the color and size of the units?

@Greg-Anderson There is no convenient way to change the size unless you don't mind if it's blurry. You can change the color with flood fill tool in e.g. paint.net, just make sure to use global fill mode and don't forget about the half-red pixels. I think I also have a script that can change unit colors en masse, but it isn't user friendly (i.e. I have no idea how it works anymore).

@Cernel I gave up on trying to give it a good descriptive name after twenty minutes. "Monotonic" feels too much like "boring".

@alkexr Technically, those are outlined silhouettes with a shadow.

                                "Outlined Shadowed Silhouetted"?

@redrum @LaFayette I definitely believe you should change the definition from the current "monochromatic". That is really not definitive, since most TripleA unit images are monochromatic (practically, most of them except a few maps like 270BC or Napoleonic Empires).

EDIT: Well, not really outlined, I think, since there is a (white) space between the silhouette and the (black) outline, which, therefore, is not really an outline, I suppose, actually, but I don't know how that would be properly defined.

@Greg-Anderson There is a hue shift property that was brought in for 2.0; you will be able to specify different colors from just one set of unit images in map.properties.

                                  See:

@LaFayette Hue shift isn't ideal in this case, because the white highlight is supposed to stay white.

If that map property would actually shift the hue (only), white would remain white, of course.

Does anyone have recommendations for fantasy map makers? I'm looking to generate a map for my warlords style game. There seem to be a quite a variety of tools that exist online, and I'm not familiar with any of them, so was wondering if anybody had knowledge of them and how well they work/easy to use. I'd need it to generate the map of a suitable size and graphics type that I can then edit with GIMP into something to use for the triplea map.

The map needn't be anything fancy; for the typical warlords style map it just needs a bunch of cities/city locations (I'm planning around 30-40), plus some terrains (I probably won't add terrain features at first, maybe later if there's interest), and I'd end up with 120 or so territories.

Well I started with a map I liked and picked this one
                                          https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/2399/settlers-age-of-tribes-official-thread

Then spent months learning how to code and manipulate the txt files.

Having played some of the Warlord games, they dont translate well into the TripleA style and you will have to compromise with how far you go.

Personally I would try to code it first, then do the art.

Having produced a few scenarios(ie coding), I am now looking into the art side of TripleA and looked at Gimp, Pinta, Krita and Paint.net and went with the last one. I am now just learning how to make baseTiles and reliefTiles.
