@nothingtoseehere I'll answer in the main thread for this specific issue, to no longer derail this topic. See https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/3124/nodebb-1-17-and-later-breaks-pbf-compatibility

@panther I have a router - might check the port setting there. Otherwise yes Windows Defender only, no other product. Windows 10.

@rogercooper That will give him either the base map image or the relief map image, not the actual view of the map. Besides, this is practically map-making: I understand here we have a user rather than a map-maker. @PlasticKnight Start TripleA. Select a Game: The Rising Sun. Start Local Game. Play. View/Show Units: off. Export/Export Gameboard Picture. Unfortunately, this will also write the game name and the current round on the upper-left corner of the map. There is a way to avoid this, but it requires modifying a file in the map folder. So I don't believe there is currently a way for a user to get a clean map image, but my steps should almost do that. I don't think there is a picture of this map stored anywhere accessible and don't think anyone has any ideas about copyrights or where the map-maker in question is, but I'm fairly certain nobody is going to sue you...

@ryansplace On Windows it is regularly in: C:\Users\USERNAME\triplea\downloadedMaps look for the Napoleonic game folder, move to "map" and then to "games". Select the intended xml-file. The remote code is here: https://github.com/triplea-maps/napoleonic_empires/tree/master/map/games

@panther said in Unable to download maps in 2.6.535: That's exactly what I am trying to figure out. Not only what it might be, but also exactly where to set it. 'Engine settings' should be the right place. 2.6 was updated to have a hardcoded prod URL of 'prod.triplea-game.org' and there is a redirect now on the server side to redirect the right client version to the right sserver version. There is a complication in there with the settings config that could have you still using an older version and heading to the 2.5 production (prod2-lobby.triplea-game.org). In that latter case you'll get a 404. If you get a 500, then you know you are hitting the 2.6 server, which is dying because its database is dead. Something we would need to fix as there would be no lobby without database.

@fatoumas said in When joining a BOT there is no option for AI: Hello, When joining an existing BOT, i cant find any option in order to select AI to take a specific nation. Iam trying this online (not local). So is there any option to do that or its required to HOST the game to do so? What i want to do is to play e.g. Axis with a friend and AI to take Allies I confirm you will be able to do what you want if you privately host or play by direct connection.

@ed-nielsen Your are using a way outdated TripleA version (1.9). TripleA 1.9 ran with Java 6. Please try again using either the current stable version https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases/tag/2.5.22294 or maybe the current prerelease (in case you want to try it out) https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases Please note that between 1.9 and the current version(s) a lot has changed. So after installing a newer version you should redownload the maps. While you can install and run different TripleA versions side by side the map-files have been changed and you might experience compatibility issues. So I recommend to perform either a clean install or to be absolutely sure to point to different map-directories in case you want to keep 1.9 and its map files for any reason. Also please note that with the newer versions of TripleA you are no longer dependent on a systemwide installed TripleA. The newer versions come bundled with the (at that time current) Java version that is installed inside the TripleA installation and used exclusively by TripleA. For example the current stable (2.5.22294) runs with bundled Java 11.0.6.

@panther I'm using 2.5.22294 on Windows 10. It defaults to C:\users\myusername\triplea\downloadedMaps and I'd like to save it to D:\triplea\downloadedMaps since D:\triplea is where the saved games are and where I installed the game itself.

@schulz veqryn stated it pretty well years ago. I don't have his actual comment but basically it was How do you quantify that ? You couldn't do anything without the developers having done the work in the first place to even make it possible I just suggest people donate to triplea.

I think I agree with everything written here. The notes seem to imply that it isn't allowed (the sentence about only legal rules being allowed besides the listed exceptions), but the notes could just be referring to the "Revised" ruleset. But at the end of the day its up to whomever is playing what the "rules" are anyways. At this point we have decided (in the NWO game I am playing) to only allow "legal" moves in the engine and thus LHTR rules only apply for non-combat and placement. This just makes things "easier" (don't have to consider moves that the engine doesn't allow) and also better preserves the balance of the map as the differences between LHTR and Revised is not as large without this extra rule.
