• Is "Also Post after Combat Move" a commonly used PbF/PbEM Feature?

    @redrum @RoiEX @Cernel Just one more aspect in this context: By the rules scrambling is the very last action happening during Combat Move Phase. So whenever combat moves will be posted in the future, there must always be room for the scrambling move before any dice are rolled. Also rocket attacks need to be kept out of the Combat Move Phase and moved to the Conduct Combat Phase instead. (see https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/issues/3846)

    @redrum Yeah, changing will still be possible, I'm just intending to do some sort of Tabbing mechanism, so you don't have to deal with the "disabled" thingy

    @RoiEX I'd have assumed that the sh file would install a working java version as well if there's none on the system I believe the bundled JRE support in the installer only works for Windows x86/x86_64 and macOS.

    @schorote What would probably work as well is using nvidias technology I described earlier, might mess up your desktop a little bit, but as a workaround it's probably going to be working as well because in this case your Linux distribution thinks that only a single screen is connected.

The in game manual should be updated to refer to "Easy", instead of "Fodder", albeit that may not be a good solution, as "Easy" is currently deprecated. @cmmiles You are supposed to assign those players to "Easy (AI)".

    @cmmiles As mentioned above... playing TWW vs the AI will allow you to get a feel for the game. However, since the AI does not understand how to use Combat Engineers and Materials to construct anything, the experience will not be very competitive nor will it be reflective of the challenges you are likely to encounter against a human player.

    Personally I think hijacking an active project without permission is deplorable (whether credit is given or not, although not giving any credit would be even worse) . It is the kind of behavior that can make a map maker not want to be part of this community.

    @dr-stein Also be sure to have the latest version of Java 8 installed on your system. Java 8 needs Vista SP2, so you could check this as well.

    @jonpfl You can reset the BOT by selecting a new map. Any and all BOTs can play any an all games that have been uploaded in the engine. The game will start after all player nations have been selected for play.

    @odie A bot doesn't require the lobby to run. If it can't connect to whatever lobby address/port you specify, it will print an error to the console, but otherwise will continue to operate normally. However, it's not exactly clear what you're trying to do. If you simply want to host a game in which you will participate (and want to bypass the lobby), you can just use the Host Networked Game command from the main menu. The only reason I can think why you'd want to host a private bot that doesn't connect to the lobby is if you want to provide a server for your friends for games in which you're not participating. That is, so your friends can play against each other: without you as an active player, without having to use the lobby, and without you having to run the full GUI on your desktop. BTW, from a security perspective, if you're going to run a bot that's reachable from the Internet-at-large and running all the time, I'd recommend running it using a non-administrative account. In fact, if possible, you should create a separate account to run it so that, if it happens to get compromised, the damage an attacker can do to your host will be limited.

    To leave the apostrophe in the name, replace it with an underscore in the objectives file. Thus "Fading Light of V'landriel" becomes "Fading_Light_of_V_landriel".

    Also, adding an empty <technology></technology> section will remove the "Technology" tab.

  • Hello,

    A friend of mine has created a mod of a fantasy world of their creation. We are trying to figure out how to see the "Objectives" Tab and add objectives to it. I've spend an exorbitant amount of time trying to figure it out and I am dumb. The mod is fully functional and we are testing the "balance" in various game runs, but we just can't wrap our heads around Objectives currently. I will say I haven't tested to see if they even work, but without the Objectives tab there's no way for the players to see it visually so I wanted that fixed first. I've looked on the forums here and seen about naming conventions with the map.yml file matching mapName in the game xml file. I've tested both with and without underscores in the name within the objective properties file to no avail. I sourced from other mods to see what their code says and nothing seems to line up simply. I even went from the current stable 2.5 version to the current 2.7 version as of today, 5/5/26. I just can't figure it out. I'm uploading the current iteration of the mod that functions, including the nonfunctioning objectives properties file and objectives in the game xml file.
