@rogercooper Yes, why not. The alternative setup has never changed from the initial posting that LH once issued. So it is safe to simply rename it.

@rogercooper Those are cool! Yeah that cartoon! total Inception lol Oh it's this dude's work... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Edes_Harrison The challenge he faced was that most Americans, like many people at the time I guess and still today, they were so familiar and ingrained with the Mercator from schooldays and the era of the sail/naval navigation going back several centuries, that they really struggled to understand how the advent of aviation had changed the game. Or like why these faraway points were so key to the war effort. So they basically hired on a technical artist (rather than a cartagropher) to reimagine how these distances and war situations could be depicted in popular media. The maps were in mags and periodicals, so I think they're sorta Duckburg style, like fighting the war of ideas, with that sort of jingoism baked in, but it definitely anticipates stuff like GPS Satellite maps or the UI's from video games. Like I can just see it morph from that into Hearts of Iron after a couple more decades floating around. I just think it's cool, since it sorta takes root during that period and comes to define the new look, along with commercial advertisements and pulp illustration (pin ups and such) the fonts and whatever, which is why I think it looks cool for window dressing type thing, but I'm not sure it works so well as a main map campaign view. It would work maybe for a mini map though, or an endgame stats view thing, or just alternative style view from a hotkey. But then I have no idea how something like that could be translated into tripleA without like a total UI overhaul that can somehow use two baselines at once hehe. Hence the pipe dream. It's to me interesting cause for Classic, the world projection there was clearly Mercator style, but then every A&A board since Revised and then later War Room, they riff more like some of those Harrison maps from the 1940s to me. Like the way some of the continents are compressed and such, or the crops that were chosen. Almost like it was a crop and swap, where the maps were tilted up from there to hammer home the idea. But then the north pole view sorta doesn't really do the telescoping on Europe and the Pacific the way the dual Theater Atlases usual show the war in the books, like with a double inset with room for many sculpts. To me the G40 is more like those, but then when I think back to Iron Blitz, it totally reminds me of those Harrison map vibes. Almost as if the one is a call back of the other. Even down to the names there, it's like a whole harris thing haha

@beelee said in A New Year and a New Mod: @rogercooper said in A New Year and a New Mod: East & West has a rule that allows tanks to move out of a territory in non-combat movement. You mean after already having been in combat ? If so, you could suggest players use edit or make a map option they can turn on at game start boosting the Tank if they don't want to. I like the idea of making it a map option. I will default the defense to 3, which most mods use.

Hmmm I definitely found a few lines that jumped lol For the geometry of the sea zone tiles, the goal would be to find something analogous (where the connections are the same.) Also on a physical table maybe like an extra wide king banquet 36x72 that sorta deal hehe. I think v3 probably makes the more sense to key it that way than revised though, since that one is so small, but I also wanted to get the white border thing working which is always sorta tricky, mainly on account of wanting something that can be blended as well. If I pass it through a gray instead of white gives different effects, so like to make it more muted, or the sea zone color doing different blues for player preference. Mainly because for revised it's cool to have the dark ocean light sea zone, but other boards like Classic or v3 might look better with the black line, so just trying to get a way to do both from the same sort of templet. @jason-green-lowe said in Limit total number of Chinese fighters?: I swear I tried hard to think of this on my own and couldn't, but it seems so obvious once you point it out. I have said the same thing! @beelee, @TheDog and many others have pointed stuff out to me, and I'll just go "WOW! I could have had a V8!" (Head-slap emoji) Cheers...

@black_elk It looks to me that those units are about 48 pixels wide. I mean the ones which you uploaded in a single image in this thread. The image is 4,000 wide simply because of this forum's limits (and because this topic says 4000px). I would go with it being 10,000 on both axis. This is how it would look with those about 48px units. [image: 1739848668870-7-2-resized.png] As it is traditional in WW1 games, I assume the game would have frequent stalemates, with enemy units sharing the same territory across turns, so I guess it would be normal to have German, French and English units on the same territory for some rounds. Actually, the original which I made was 6,000 on both axis, but I shrunk it because forum would not allow it.

@thedog said in The First Battle of the Next War: This might be of interest? https://www.reddit.com/r/CredibleDefense/comments/108fwga/report_launchthe_first_battle_of_the_next_war/ That thread discusses the same report. There are some interesting comments. I have played this out in some commercial wargames with same result, any surface ships in war zone are dead within days. Which is a problem for an amphibious invasion. A&A/TripleA make amphibious invasions much easier than they are in real life.

@beelee Problem is not with the mod, as it works as it should in 2.5+, as all tech show up in the "Unit Help" window, and the unit "Tool Tip". But in 2.6+/2.7+ the tech info does not show in the display/tip. So, this is a problem with the new release that would need to be reported. Cheers...

@g40newb Hej there, nice that you are playing Oil and Snow... first of al: it is the game mechanics: I decided that it would be not realistic for a foreign power to produce new units in the enemies conquered factories... so they remain disabled by this... the conquere receives the terr's extra PU's and more emphasize is put on transporting units newly constructed units to the frontline... creating logistical challenges once reaching far in conquest as is reality. Keep sending all feedback and issues... as I am halfway and good update of this project, ( as it was years ago made and my first one ) and I can adapt all issues coming out of your player experience, greetings

@victoryfirst said in Total World War: December 1941 3.0.0.6: Hi, I have a bunch of random questions. Is this game perfectly balanced, or is a bid required? Why has it been chosen to let Germany go before Russia and add the Russian winter, instead of making Russia go before Germany? Can I as a beginner have a competitive game against the AI? Should the AI be the Axis or the Allies? Are you trying to learn 2.8 or 3.0 version ?

Scenario World War II V3 - 1942 Version 2.6.14770 Results Fast AI won in 9 turns as the Axis, the Hard AI won in 8 turns The Fast AI successfully pulled off some risky attacks as the Axis, but still took longer to win the American even taking Italy for one turn. With 4 victories in a row, using different scenarios, I can conclude the Hard AI is better.

@cernel ISOT is an acronym that means Island in the Sea of Time. It's a book about the Island of Nantucket bring brought back to the Bronze Age. Think of it like a Western Isekai but focused on time travel instead of going to another world. Anyway, people use this acronym in Alternatehistory.com to describe stories with the same sort of premise

In case you have not seen this, you can have both 2.5 & 2.6 installed at the same time. https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/3724/how-to-have-triplea-2-5-2-6-installed-at-the-same-time
