As in every case (beside "those" game which have rule-books) nothing user-enforced is detailed in notes, the rules are what the program does.

Yes: one can can bid full infantry and place them all in one territory.

@general_zod Good recommendation. I've seen in for example online go timers that add a fixed amount per turn. The idea being there is that you can extend a long running game and not be forced to end the game in say round 3 or 4 because both players are low on time.

If so, you could suggest players use edit or make a map option they can turn on at game start boosting the Tank if they don't want to.

I like the idea of making it a map option. I will default the defense to 3, which most mods use.

The biggest problem with using a "global email" is that if we did that without any authentication, one could use our service to spam another ones email account and create something like a dos attack.
So in any case we'd need authentication, which might defeat its purpose already.

One challenge is having a mechanism to associate a game notes file with the game file. Having the two files with matching names and the notes file being suffixed with '-notes.html' might be easy enough. For example:

world_at_war.xml world_at_war-notes.html

@LaFayette To give a suggestion in regards to a counter, I first thought of two methods that I later discarded. One was just a little "x something" like the units-to-be-placed has above, or the white count number at the factory like on placed units have. But I figured that both of these production indicators would maybe lead to confusing.

So my suggestion would be to have a counter after the territory name. Like "Berlin (Production X)". This would mean the whole territory. Then the individual factory free producti capability would be seen when placing, just like it works now.

I don't remember why the 800x500 is ideal. I want to say it was because that is a good fit on the download maps window. To some extent, IIRC, the images there are not scaled on the download maps window - so there is no fixed requirement of a specific size.

@redrum If you think it can be good to go the way of just manually changing the games for the not very popular options (maybe all of them but only the "isAA", I'd like), and are fine taking a modest chance of bugging some game (I'm not going to playtest them all fully), I can do all the changing part, as long as the matter goes at a good pace (I don't want to be stuck with a lot of pull requests for long), preferably doing it and closing this same month, if possible? A minor notice is that option also sets the stack limit for games like Classic. Of course, that would stay in the unit attachments. So, you would end up with an option that creates two different things, if it is Classic rules (I guess it should be fine).

I think I'll tend to agree with the majority here. Bad things happen when rushed. Perhaps the next couple months will serve as an extended testing period - a very good thing.

I reduced the number of 2.7 bot servers to two. That's a cost of $10/month and gives us 6 game instances in the meantime.

I'll spin up a 2.7 'megathread' thread & link it in the lobby. Make the testing a bit more official.

I'm from Nova Scotia, Canada, and I'll be 32 next month.

I've played Axis and Allies Revised Edition for 10+ years with some close friends, although we've only played once or twice each year for the past few years.

I really enjoy turn based strategy. I've recently become involved with Warhammer 40k and thoroughly enjoy it, although I must admit to a degree of naivete as far as painting the miniatures. It's a lot of work!

I like computers and PC gaming. I enjoy card games, board games, tabletop games, anything that has nuances and involves tactics and critical thought. That't not to say I excel at any of it!

I'm glad to be welcome and look forward to some friendly competitive gaming. 🙂

@redrum Wow that is seriously Ethnic oriented. There is that single "Slavs" players that groups together Pomerania, Bohemia, Polonia, almost all Russia, Serbia and Bulgaria. Tho, in this case, they got the name "Britons" wrong, as those are, rather, the "Anglo-Saxons" migrants, since also "Brittany" ("Little Britain") I see it is not part of the "Britons"...
